4 Day Tigray mountain trekking Itinerary
Day 1 Day 1 of the 4 Days Tigray Trekking tour starts with a drive from Mekelle towards the Gheralta mountains. We'll drop you off at the beginning of the trekking site after breakfast in the bottom of the mountain. we will hike for 1.5 hours to reach an incredible old church called Youhans Maqudi, located high up in the sky. After this awe-inspiring visit, we will continue our journey for another 3-4 hours to the Abune Abraham church, which is known for its colourful decoration and fascinating history. We will end our day by continuing down to our cozy base camp village, where we will sleep under the stars.
Day 2 On Day 2, after a delicious breakfast cooked by our professional chef, we continue our trek while admiring the breathtaking view, wildlife and traditional Tigray house. We will visit the Mariam Papsite church before continuing to the base camp, which takes about 4 hours. We will be camping in the village called Korkor for the night.
Day 3 On day 3, after an early breakfast, trek to the highest point of the Gheralta mountain range at 2700 feet above sea level, where you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape. After lunch, continue your trek to visit the historic church of Mariam Korkor and Danile Korkor. Accommodation at the end of the day will be provided in the charming village of Guh.
Day 4 Our four-day Tigrai trekking tour is the perfect way to experience the beauty and wonder of Ethiopia. Each day, we will hike through the awe-inspiring landscapes, uncovering hidden gems and cultural treasures along the way. On the final day, we will visit the incredible Abune Yemata church, one of the most impressive and breathtaking sights in the region.
